Tips to save strokes in mini golf
- Read the hole first. Find the cup, the water, the sand and the wall that shortens the way. Rushing usually costs a stroke.
- Power matters more than aim. Most wasted strokes are hit too hard or too soft. A ball that stops just short is better than one that rolls past and far away.
- Use the walls. The ball leaves a wall at about the angle it hit it; around a bend, one bank shot can replace two putts.
- Don't gamble near water. When the short line hugs the water, a safe shot plus a second putt beats a penalty.
- Set up the next putt. If you can't hole it in one, leave the ball where the next stroke is short and straight.
- Watch the scorecard. When you're ahead, play safe; when you're behind, take your chances on the short holes.
